Health Connect Partners’ First, Virtual, Spring Pharmacy Conference
Healthcare Facilities & Suppliers: A New Way to Network
For over 14 years, Health Connect Partners (HCP) has delivered live, educational networking events for the healthcare community. Traditionally, HCP hosts an average of ten events throughout the United States each year for various segments of the hospital community. They specifically cater to Pharmacy, Radiology & Imaging, Supply Chain, OR & Surgical and Information Technology.
HCP successfully facilitates connections between key players of the healthcare industry through face-to-face, bi-annual meetings. However, like many businesses worldwide, the spread of COVID-19 altered how they do business in 2020. All of HCP's spring meetings have moved to a virtual platform in order to adapt to the current COVID-19 restrictions.
Fagron Sterile Services US (FSS), a supplier of 503B pharmaceutical outsourcing, was set to exhibit at the Spring Pharmacy event in 2020, as they have done in previous years. Unfortunately, New Orleans, the location of this year’s conference, quickly became a ‘hot-spot’ for the pandemic. HCP coalesced with safety experts and ultimately canceled their live event.
Supporting Pharmacy & Healthcare Education
Despite the turn-of-events, FSS continues to support HCP in their mission to provide healthcare education, by serving as an Education Session Sponsor. Six educational sessions are being provided during the conference on the following topics:
• Leadership Principles During a Time of Crisis
• USP Chapter <800>: Exploring the Gray</800>
• Digital Medicine: Transforming Chronic Disease Care with Digital Tools and a Dedicated Team
• DEA Updates, Recent Case Studies, and Controlled Substance Risk Mitigation
• ISMP Top Med Errors and Targeted Best Practices
• Healthcare State of the Union – Key Trends Shaping Provider Strategy in 2020
FSS continues to be an active participant in the Virtual Reverse Expo as well. This allows suppliers to pair up with chosen Pharmacy Directors and health system leaders for brief conversations on how to meet their pharmacy outsourcing needs for high-demand medications. Hospitals and health systems from every state are represented at the conference.
What’s Next?
HCP has already hosted a total of four conferences this spring. However, CEO, David Mason, does not see the virtual conference becoming the “new normal.” He hopes to return to live events this fall, if circumstances allow.
HCP continues to monitor guidelines from government and safety officials while placing the health and welfare of their attendees/staff as a top priority. While FSS enjoys live events, where they can present their services as a pharmacy supplier, health and safety must remain paramount.
As a global company serving 60 countries, Fagron understands the power of virtual collaboration. When done properly, virtual healthcare events leveraging face-to-face technology, continue to develop opportunities to improve patient care, but in a more responsible way — from a health, financial and environmental perspective.
